Our Story
1875
Welcome to our historic Napa Valley vacation rental, a unique destination for those seeking the quintessential St. Helena experience. This charming home is part of the original 215 acres purchased by Jacob Beringer in 1875. The property features Beringer's "Home Vineyard," one of Napa Valley's oldest producing vineyards, dating back to 1878. The Beringer family built this house in the 1880s, and it remained their residence until 1935. During their tenure, the vineyard flourished and now produces the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes used in Beringer's prestigious Private Reserve Cabernet, a testament to the property's enduring legacy in winemaking.
Today
In 1935, my great-great-uncle Felix Freilone, known affectionately as Gee Gee, purchased the home and property from Otto Beringer Sr., Jacob Beringer's son. Gee Gee, an immigrant from Lucca, Italy, was drawn to Napa Valley for its resemblance to his homeland. Following the end of Prohibition, Gee Gee and his wife, Frances, established Gee Gee's Tavern and Grill in downtown St. Helena. This local favorite served as a bustling community hub for over 30 years, offering great food and a welcoming atmosphere. A cherished photo of Frances and Gee Gee, showcasing their legacy, is proudly displayed atop the piano in our home.
Now, our family takes great pride in sharing this historic home with guests from around the world. For nearly 100 years, we have lovingly maintained the property, ensuring it retains its unique charm and historical significance. As a top Napa Valley vacation rental, our home offers a perfect blend of history and modern comfort, providing an unforgettable experience in St. Helena. We invite you to create lasting memories and enjoy the rich heritage of our Napa Valley vacation rental. Cheers to unforgettable stays and a warm welcome to all our guests.
